VINES AND WINES
The CHEVRON VILETTE saga was, at the beginning, a love story or was it? In 1189, the Chevron family and the Vilette family wedded their children. The 2 families from the Savoy aristocracy will settle at Saint Tropez centuries later.
In 1919, they arrived in the Var and Joseph Chevron Vilette married Marie de Colbert-Cannet. Bernard Chevron Vilette soon pioneered in protecting geographical indication of Côtes de Provence appellation. Still a student, young Guillaume had to take over the family chateau very soon after his parents died in 1980 and 1981.
Guillaume is a vine grower at heart: he inherited the genes of love of soil and wine; and he had a futuristic view of his trade. By 1987, he extended his business with a 900-m2 wine cellar where he managed to produce 2000 hectolitres. A new way of marketing entered the Chevron Vilette vineyard!
In 2000, Guillaume decided to go further and upgrade his cellar: he turned it into a 3 600 m2 one, which enabled him to process 30 000 to 40 000 hectolitres. From then on, the Vignobles Chevron Vilette was able to condition 5 to 6 millions bottles and Guillaume played with the big boys. Today, he owns one of the most important Provence wineries.
Not only is he a brilliant businessman and a lover of vines, Guillaume is also conscious of the environmental challenges to face. In 2002, he set up a water treatment plant and in 2010, photovoltaic panels on the cellars, the result of a long planned process. For over 30 years, he had implemented organic agriculture in his vineyards. The Chateau Reillane is certified Terra Vitis acknowledging the command and respect of responsible farming. It goes without saying that pesticides and weed killers have been banned for decades and compost has been used on the whole domain. 50 hectares are cultivated according to biodynamic rules and have been certified by Demeter Quality Control Standards since 2016.
From the start, Guillaume has done his utmost to progress and reach the highest level of quality while protecting the environment. With this aim in mind, he has set up a most sophisticated winery equipped with state-of-the-art techniques. In addition, he is endowed with ancestral oenologist and winegrower skills and respect for the techniques he learnt from his peers.
Guillaume is a passionate advocate for his wines and it is with great pleasure and quite some pride that he personally presents his new vintage each year. The Vignobles Chevron Vilette features at all the best restaurants! How to choose between a rosé, a red or a white wine? The best way is to try them by yourself. Taste first and decide later.
