Nice ... the site was conquered by the Romans two centuries before our era. Who made a real city of nearly twenty thousand inhabitants to Christianity in the fourth century, undergoing the barbarian invasions to the fall of the Roman Empire. Nice reappeared in history at the turn of the millennium, the seat of the bishopric, prosperous, extended beyond its walls, enjoying the many monasteries that were established around. Yet, the image of a good part of Provence, wars, power struggles, epidemics, famines, began to hurt this naturally poor country.
